Ayesha Khan Recalls Surviving Attempted R*pe, Says “There Are Times When The Trauma Comes Back”
Actress Ayesha Khan recently opened up about a deeply traumatic experience from her past, revealing that she once survived an attempted rape. The actress spoke candidly about the incident and the emotional impact it continues to have on her life.
During a recent conversation, Ayesha addressed the darker side of being a woman in the public eye. She shared that apart from dealing with constant trolling and online harassment, she also receives disturbing threats on social media. Speaking about the situation, she said that such messages have unfortunately become a regular part of her life. “Yes, every day. I can open my phone right now and show it to you. And it is so normal,” she said while referring to the rape threats she frequently receives online.
The actress explained that she is often sexualised for her appearance on social media, regardless of what she wears or posts. According to her, even simple choices such as wearing a normal top or a skirt attract unnecessary criticism and inappropriate comments. Reflecting on this constant scrutiny, she said, “If I have to think before wearing or wanting to post something just because someone else is going to sexualize me, it is of course a really sad space to be in.”
While speaking about her past trauma, Ayesha revealed that she had previously talked about the attempted rape incident but finds it difficult to revisit the painful memories. She admitted that certain moments or situations can still trigger the emotional wounds from that experience. “I’ve been attempted to rape in my life… There are days, there are times when it just triggers you… scratches that wound that I don’t want to remember,” she shared.
Ayesha also spoke about a disturbing incident that occurred while she was shooting for a film. She discovered that one of the spot boys had been sending her unsettling voice notes on Instagram. After informing her father and the production team, action was taken and she felt safer. However, the experience reinforced her fears about how online threats can sometimes come dangerously close to real life.
