The much-awaited Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony is set to take place on Monday, January 22. Photos and videos of celebrities from the Indian entertainment industry and high-profile dignitaries arriving at Ayodhya are going viral on social media. Well amidst it all, a recent report by Pinkvilla states that more than Rs 1,100 crores have been spent on the construction of the Ram Mandir.
As reported by PTI, the treasurer of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Govind Dev Giri, revealed that Rs 1,100 crores have been spent on the construction of the temple. Many well-known celebrities from the film and television industries in India too have contributed to the construction of the Lord Ram temple. Actors like Hema Malini, Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, and others have also been vocal about their contributions towards the building of the temple. Here’s the list of actors who have opened up about making their contribution.
Akshay Kumar: Having established himself as a credible actor in comedy and action genres, Khiladi Kumar shared a video in January 2021, where he urged his followers to contribute towards the construction of Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir. He captioned the video, “It is a matter of great joy that the construction of our grand temple of Shri Ram has started in Ayodhya...Now it is our turn to contribute. I have started, hope you will also join us. Jai Siyaram.”
Anupam Kher: The veteran actor has been very vocal about his views through his social media posts. It was in October 2023, that he posted a video on Instagram. Having visited Ayodhya, he shared a clip of the construction site of the Ram Temple and expressed that watching the temple being constructed was a pleasant feeling. A part of his caption read, “Every devotee is engaged in his devotion in the construction of Ram Lalla's temple. Jai Sri Ram echoes all over Ayodhya atmosphere! I am lucky to have a brick gift to this temple at my urge! I am blessed!”
Hema Malini: The Dream Girl of Bollywood surely enjoys a huge fans base across the country. Well, according to the entertainment portal, the Times of India has reported that she had donated an undisclosed amount for the construction of the Ram Mandir. Having performed in Ayodhya, a few days ago, she said, “This program has been organized by Swami Rambhadracharya. He has organized a 10-day program. I am fortunate to be here during this time.”
Mukesh Khanna: Having gained recognition through his portrayal of Shaktimaan and various versatile performances, Khanna has taken to his official social media handle to reveal his donation. He had taken to X in February 2021, to reveal that he donated a cheque of Rs 1.1 lakh to the authorities for the construction of the temple.
Pawan Kalyan: According to the Pinkvilla, the actor-politician donated Rs 30 lakh for the construction of Ram Mandir. In a statement he had stated, “Lord Sri Ramachandra is the replica for dharma and tolerance, sacrifice and bravery shown by him is an inspiration to all. India has withstood many attacks because of the path created by lord Sri Rama. Hence, it is everyone’s responsibility to extend solidarity for the construction of the temple in Ayodhya, the replica of such dharma.”
Gurmeet Choudhary: Talking to his official X handle (formerly known as Twitter), in January 2021, Gurmeet expressed his desire to offer his support. He wrote, “As you know, the work of collecting funds for the construction of Ram temple is going on with great enthusiasm in the entire country. For this auspicious work, we also want to offer some of our support at the feet of Lord Ram.”
Manoj Joshi: The actor has reportedly also contributed an undisclosed amount to the construction of Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir in 2021.
Pranitha Subhash: Pranitha Subhash has taken to her official social media handle to disclose that she has donated Rs 1 lakh for the construction of Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir.
