This year, the Korean black-comedy thriller Parasite directed by Bong Joon Ho won the Oscar in the Best Film category. While a lot of people praised the film, Baahubali director in his recent interview stated that he found it to be boring. In a television interview, Rajamouli reviewed Parasite and stated that he went off to sleep in the first half of the movie. He revealed that he could not finish the film as he found it to be that boring. On this, netizens started slamming the director on social media.

On Twitter, fans criticised SS Rajamouli for saying such things about an Oscar-winning film and even dragged in his film Baahubali. One user wrote on Twitter, "#Rajamouli couldnt find anything to copy from #Parasite #Rajamouli thinks a movie is all about unrealistic elevation of the lead actor. Him not liking #Parasite is no surprise Ask Malayalam directors about Parasite they r more reliable since Malayalam movies r realistic #Prabhas." Another one wrote, "Parasite has No dance, no physics defying stunts and men are not flying by bending coconut trees. So Boring Macha." A yet another netizen wrote, "Rajamouli is a piece of shit, and has made the most overrated movie in the history of Indian cinema. Not saying this in defense of parasite, i have been saying this since the chodubali released."

While he also found quite a few supporters. A user wrote, "Wow. People are really judging Rajamouli on his statement about not liking Parasite. Come man, man. At least he was honest about his opinion. It's perfectly alright to not like it. All of us need not have to like the same film. No hard and fast rule."
