Bengali Actor Soumitra Chatterjee Is No More, Passes Away At 85
On October 6 came news of legendary Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee being hospitalized as he was detected positive for COVID-19.  Now as per reports in livemint, the legendary actor has breathed his last in Kolkata at the age of 85. As per reports in IANS, the actor's health had deteriorated stated Kolkata's Belle Vue Hospital’s critical care expert and head of the medical board, Arindam Kar. He mentioned the actor not responding to medical treatment and has been critical, also he health had deteriorated in the past 48 hours more ever since he was hospitalized.

As per reports many doctors from public as well as private sector, experts from neurological, cardiology department and more have tried their best to retrieve him, but their efforts are in vain, Dr. Arindam Kar said, “The team of doctors including neurologist, nephrologist, cardiologist, those from critical care medicine, infection disease specialist, both from public and private sectors, every one has put their effort to get the legend back from the critical stage, but it is not working."

He also added, though all the doctors tried their best, they would not improve his condition, he said, "We are very sorry to say that he is not responding at all."


Dadasaheb Phalke awardee was admitted in Intensive Care Unit for 40 days before he breathed his last. He was critically ill since Friday; also the reason behind his illness was COVID-19 encephalopathy.
