Bengaluru Filmmaker Hemanth Kumar Arrested After TV Actress Alleges He Spiked Her Drink, Filmed Private Videos, And Threatened Her
filmmaker Hemanth Kumar was arrested in Bengaluru following allegations by a television actress accusing him of sexual harassment, cheating and criminal intimidation.
According to the actress’s complaint, she was introduced to Hemanth in 2022 and was later cast as the lead in his 2017 film Richie. The agreed remuneration was ₹2 lakh, of which she received an advance payment of ₹60,000.
She alleges that during the film’s shoot and promotional activities, Hemanth harassed her, promising to take her to Mumbai under the pretext of promotions. Once there, she claims he laced her mocktail with alcohol and made her drink it. Meanwhile, he purportedly recorded private videos and took photos of her without her consent.
Beyond that, she asserts that he forced her to wear revealing outfits, enact obscene scenes, and repeatedly touched her inappropriately, making her feel deeply uncomfortable. When she resisted, the matter escalated—she says Hemanth sent goons to tail her and even threatened both her life and that of her mother.
The actress also claimed that Hemanth issued her a cheque which later bounced. She further accused him of posting uncensored and edited clips from the film on social media without approval from the Censor Board, and of publicly defaming her while leaking her personal details online.
Acting on her complaint, the Rajajinagar police arrested Hemanth and produced him before a court. He was remanded to judicial custody as investigations are underway.
