Bobby Deol Gets Emotional Accepting Dharmendra’s Lifetime Achievement Award: “Never Imagined I Would Be Here Like This”

Actor Bobby Deol became emotional as he accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of his late father, Dharmendra, at the Screen Awards 2026 held in Mumbai. The veteran star, who passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 89, was honoured for his immense contribution to Indian cinema spanning over six decades.

During the ceremony on April 5, Bobby took to the stage to receive the prestigious honour and was visibly overwhelmed with emotion, even breaking down while addressing the audience. Remembering his father, he shared how deeply loved Dharmendra was by people across generations and how that love continues to surround their family even today.

In his speech, Bobby said, “I see my father’s love in all your eyes. My father touched everyone’s hearts through his work and even through his Instagram reels, which had become his new hobby.” He highlighted how Dharmendra believed in spreading happiness and gratitude, adding that his father always encouraged people to stay positive and recognise the blessings in their lives.

Reflecting on his father’s philosophy, Bobby shared, “He used to say that we all have a special gift within us, and if we believe in it, we can achieve anything.” He also expressed how proud he felt to be his son and how the love he receives from fans is a reflection of Dharmendra’s legacy.

Overcome with emotion, Bobby admitted, “I never imagined I would be here like this,” as he thanked the organisers for honouring his father. The heartfelt moment resonated deeply with the audience, serving as a touching tribute to one of Bollywood’s most iconic and beloved stars.
