Bushra Ansari Slams Javed Akhtar Over Pahalgam Remark: 'He Was 2 Hours Away From Dying Last Time In Lahore!'

Veteran Pakistani actress Bushra Ansari has expressed her strong disapproval of Indian lyricist Javed Akhtar’s recent comments about Pahalgam. In a video going viral on social media, Ansari criticized Akhtar for what she described as insensitive remarks about the scenic town in Kashmir during his visit.
Javed Akhtar reportedly said, "There is no place like Pahalgam in Pakistan." This comment didn’t sit well with Bushra Ansari, who responded with a sharp video message. Referring to Akhtar’s previous controversial statements made during a visit to Lahore in 2023, where he brought up the 26/11 attacks and accused Pakistan of sheltering terrorists, Ansari remarked, “He was just two hours away from dying last time he came to Lahore, and yet he comes back with more problematic comments.”
She also referenced veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah in her criticism, saying, “Look at Naseeruddin Shah, such a fine actor, but he never talks nonsense like this. He stays quiet and dignified.”
Ansari also questioned Akhtar's intent in making such statements, emphasizing that political tensions shouldn’t be escalated by public figures through divisive comments. She appealed for mutual respect and understanding between the neighboring countries.
The Pakistani actress further urged Akhtar to refrain from comparing the two nations in such a flippant manner, pointing out that every region has its own unique beauty. “Why provoke emotions and disturb peace? Don’t make things worse,” she added.
The controversy stems from Akhtar’s offhand comparison, which some Pakistani citizens and artists found demeaning. Bushra’s video has since sparked a debate online, with mixed reactions from viewers on both sides of the border.
Despite the backlash, Javed Akhtar has not yet responded to Bushra Ansari’s remarks.
