Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was the first guest on Cricbuzz’s original series, Spicy Pitch. This interesting series showcases the lives of superstar cricketers and will see them recounting their own life stories. Now, in a conversation with SpotboyE’s Manish Batavia with cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin for Spicy Pitch, R Ashwin got candid about his professional and personal life journey. His wife was also a part of the conversation and she revealed about their love life, and where he proposed to her, among other interesting things.
The first episode aired on Saturday, and saw R Ashwin’s wife, father, mother also speak about his journey and incidents. R Ashwin and his wife Prithi Narayanan got married in November 2011, and they are parents to two beautiful daughters Akhira and Aadhya. Now, speaking about them being childhood friends, and knowing each other in school, R Ashwin revealed that they were not dating in school. “It was a well-known secret to everybody else, but both of us.” His wife added that the whole school would talk about it. “And then when we got married, people who hadn’t spoken to in years, they started pinging us and said, See?” she said.
When asked about who made the first move, Prithi reveals that it was R Ashwin who did. She said, “So it wasn't dramatic it was sincere. We're not like typical childhood sweethearts. We met in school and then we knew there was something happening but we again started meeting each other only when we were adults and he was playing professional cricket. So there wasn't really much time to do the whole dating thing because he was off for the World Cup squad. But before that we had a conversation, he said I really wanna spend the rest of my life with you. He took me to Chemplast, a cricket ground, he had a lot of fond memories from his childhood there.”
R Ashwin’s wife also complained about how he would take thousands of flights, pack and unpack several times for cricket, but wouldn’t do it for an overnight trip with her.
