At the age of 23, when most of us are still studying or have just entered the professional phase of our lives, a woman that goes by the name of Smriti Mandhana, has managed to achieve so much and her contribution for our motherland is inevitable. Smriti Mandhana is just not an established Indian cricketer, but also the Best Women's International Cricketer, as named by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Recently, in a conversation with SpotboyE’s Manish Batavia for Spicy Pitch, the cricketer spilt some interesting beans on her professional and personal lives.
A glimpse from their interesting interview is out and it promises a lot of candid talks and some hilarious revelations by Smriti. The teaser begins with Smriti recounting an incident when someone teased her by saying, “Arre kya ladki jaise fielding kar rahi hai?” To which, the cricketer threw the ball and responded saying, “Wapas ladki bola toh dekhna”. She also reveals practicing till midnight 1 or 2 am and it wasn’t until her mom called her that she went back home. Further, when Manish quizzed Smriti if she really doesn’t remember her ODI debut, to which, the 23-year-old says that while remembers playing it but not the venue and the two are left into splits.
We also came across a few emotional segments, one of which was when Smriti’s father revealed that it was always his wish to see at least one his kids playing for India and Smriti fulfilled that. Smriti also opened up on the World Cup and confessed that she was skeptical initially. However, within just five days of the WC, she went from 2 thousand to a whopping 299K followers. She revealed how no one expected the women’s cricket team to make it to the finals, which is why they already booked their return tickets. But well, the rest, as they say, is history.
