The 92nd Academy Awards or the Oscars 2020 saw a historic moment as South Korean social satire Parasite was awarded the Best Picture. The film, directed by Bong Joon-ho, became the first non-English language film to win this honor. Donald Trump disapproved of Parasite’s big win at the Oscars, and mocked the film. He asked if the film was good, and that he wouldn’t know if it was. Now, the film’s distributor Neon, has trolled back, with an epic reply.
At the reelection campaign rally in Colorado Springs, Donald Trump addressed a huge crowd and first asked, “How bad was the Academy Awards this year?" He further added, in disbelief, “We got enough problems with South Korea, with trade. On top of it, they give them the best movie of the year?" Donald Trump then claimed that he had not watched Parasite, saying, “was it good? I don’t know. Can we get, like, Gone With the Wind back, please? Sunset Boulevard. So many great movies."
Now, Neon, the independent film distributor behind Parasite, has trolled back with an epic reply, and suggested he is dissing the film as it has subtitles. Neon tweeted, “Understandable, he can't read. #Parasite #BestPicture #Bong2020.”
Not just Parasite, Donald Trump also mocked Brad Pitt, calling him a ‘little wiseguy’, and said that he never was a fan of the actor. This comes after Brad Pitt’s political speech at Oscars 2020, wherein the actor took a jibe at the senators who voted against the Democrats’ request to call new witnesses at the President of US Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.
