Donald Trump Orders Ban On Transactions With Chinese App TikTok Citing National Security Risk
After India put an interim ban on Chinese Apps like TikTok and more following the violence at India-China border, it is US President Donald Trump who has signed executive orders restricting its citizens from making any transactions with the parent company of Chinese App TikTok - Bytedance. This move is to safeguard national security. The orders will come in force in 45 days from now. This move of President US Trump comes when the Presidential elections are merely 90 days.

In the order signed, US President Donald Trump stated, "The United States must take aggressive action against the owners of TikTok to protect our national security," as reported by The Statesman. As this comes into effect after 45 days, it will bar "any transaction by any person, or with respect to any property, subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, with ByteDance Ltd".

In the executive order signed, it has been mentioned that "TikTok automatically captures vast swaths of information from its users, including Internet and other network activity information such as location data and browsing and search histories." This is considered to be a potential risk to the security of the nation.

Earlier, reports had it that the Trump Government is pushing the TikTok owners to sell the App to an American Company. Not just TikTok, Chinese App WeChat is also under the scanner.
