Following Rapper TI’s Revelation About Taking Daughter For ‘Virginity Tests,’ NY Seeks To Ban ‘Hymen Examination’
Prompted by the serious internet hatred that T.I got thanks to his controversial statement, New York lawmakers are trying to have a law passed wherein it will become illegal for doctors to perform virginity tests and/or supervise hymen examinations
American rapper T.I created a major controversy when he revealed that he takes his 18-year-old daughter for virginity tests to check if her ‘hymen is intact’ every year. He received severe backlash on the internet. The rapper and his wife, Tiny Harris later appeared on Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s YouTube show, and the rapper was seen explaining himself. He said his statement had been misconstrued. After Jada reprimanded him and explained the gravity of his statement to him, before going on to explain the impact it could have on his teenage daughter, he made a brief public apology.
Now, prompted by what he said and the serious internet hate T.I got thanks to his controversial statement, New York lawmakers are trying to have a law passed wherein it becomes illegal for doctors to perform virginity tests. According to CBC, the New York State Senate and New York State Assembly wish to introduce two bills that would ensure that it will be unlawful for doctors to perform and/or supervise hymen examinations. Meanwhile, the rapper was embroiled in yet another controversy, when his wife, Tiny Harris, who is known to speak her mind, revealed, that he had cheated on her with a woman who was willing to ‘listen’ to his orders and she was not one of them.
“Once I got on my own two feet, I felt like I should have a voice too. And that voice, was a little different than what he was used to. So that, to me, is what caused the issue (cheating),” Tiny revealed on Jada’s chat show.
