From a very long time, the gossip mills are buzzing with the rumours of Hollywood actor George Clooney joining the US Presidential race for 2020. As if that wasn't enough, it is also being said that former President Barack Obama played a huge role in convincing the actor to take such a decision. But, is any of it true? Popular investigative portal Gossip Cop's latest report suggests otherwise. As per the site, it was a year ago that these speculations came floating on social media and elsewhere; however, they have strictly turned out to be just rumours.
As per Gossip Cop, last summer, when Obama family's presence George and Amal Clooney's wedding festivities at their Lake Como villa in Italy gave birth to these speculations after a write up in Woman's Day went viral. It claimed how the former President was hell-bent on pushing George as a potential candidate for the 2020 presidential run. A so-called insider claimed, "George has been privately despairing about the state of America and the world for a long time." They went onto add that becoming a father, and now husband has “finally prompted him to do something about it.
The write-up further stated that Clooney was allegedly considering a 2024 run, but Obama convinced him to go for it in the year 2020 instead.
Well, well, well, Gossip Cop adds how the article was irrelevant a year back and holds a similar status now. As per them, George himself has rubbished rumours of running the office. In 2017, the actor had said that he didn't think we should have “someone famous in office” and would rather go for “someone who knows how to make policy.” At another instance, he said that he’d been asked about running for office “for almost 20 years now and the answer is just no,” continuing, “Who would ever want to live like that?”
