Harry On Queen Elizabeth Asking Him And Meghan Markle To Give Up Their Royal Titles, ‘I've Accepted This’
During his recent interaction, Harry, the former Duke of Sussex, expressed his sadness over Queen Elizabeth and senior Windsors forcing him and Meghan Markle to give up their royal duties and roles for an independent future
Not very long ago, (former) Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took the internet by storm after they officially announced their separation from the royal household. Soon after which, the former Duke of Sussex, in a deal with Queen Elizabeth and senior Windsors, was asked, rather forced to give up his royal duties and roles for an independent future. It was on Saturday that the Buckingham Palace announced that Harry and Meghan will not be known as their ‘Royal Highness’ titles anymore, making way for them to decide on their respective careers.
During his speech to the Sentebale charity, a visibly upset Harry said that he and Meghan Markle weren’t expecting such consequences. "Our hope was to continue serving the queen, the Commonwealth and my military associations without public funding. Sadly that wasn't possible. I've accepted this knowing it doesn't change who I am, or how committed I am. But I hope that helps you understand what it had come to, that I would step back from all I have ever known to take a step forward into what I hope can be a more peaceful life,” said Harry. Upon their split from the Royal Family, Harry and Meghan, in their joint statement, wrote, “We intend to step back as 'senior' members of the royal family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. We have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America.”
