Haryana-based model Sheetal, also known as Simmi Chaudhary, was found brutally murdered near a canal in Sonipat’s Kharkhoda/Khanda area on Monday, shocking locals. The 23‑year‑old, who had been reported missing since June 14 by her sister Neha, was discovered with her throat slit and her body dumped in the water.
Neha had filed the missing person’s complaint at Matlauda police station in Panipat after Sheetal failed to return following a music‑video shoot in Ahar village. Authorities immediately launched a search when her absence was noted.
Police recovered the body on Sunday, sending it for a post‑mortem at a nearby civil hospital. Sonipat police confirmed that foul play was suspected, and investigations are under way to uncover her killer.
According to Hindustan Times, the victim had left home on June 14 for the shoot, and her sister later received a distressing call from her that night. Sheetal reportedly told Neha that her “former friend, Sunil of Panipat, had reached the shooting venue and beat her up”. Shortly after, contact was lost.
Police are examining CCTV footage and conducting a forensic investigation at the crime scene . The case has drawn widespread media focus and intensified calls for swift justice and improved safety for women. Residents have expressed their alarm over the gruesome nature of the crime, which highlights the need for better security protocols .
As Sonipat investigators pursue leads, the community awaits clarity on the motive behind this horrific killing and hopes the perpetrator will soon be identified and brought to justice.
