India is going to celebrate 75th Independence Day on August 15, 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic has put many hurdles in celebrations. Most educational institutions are organizing events online to avoid public gatherings and allow for social distancing. This does not hinder the enthusiasm of students for celebrating.

There are many schools that are organizing virtual events like fancy dress competitions, virtual cultural programs, and intra school events. Even, the Flag-hoisting ceremonies will also likely be organized in schools and colleges but will be attended mainly by teachers and officials like last year, no students gathering is allowed this year also.

The central government is also encouraging everyone for online participation by setting up a website, ‘’, in which the students can upload videos of themselves singing the National Anthem and after compiling all the clips a full video will be made and played live on Independence Day 2021.

Virtual cultural event on Independence Day: 

Here is a school, KIIT School of Languages (KSOL) who has organized the 75th Independence Day celebration via a virtual cultural event at 5 pm on August 14. The KIIT School has also organized an online dance event called “The Unfolding of Indian Dance”. Quiz Competition on Independence Day:

The school in Pinjore, Haryana -St Vivekanand Millennium School HMT Township is also organizing an online intra-school poetry-making competition and quiz competition on Independence Day for the 75th Independence day. Dance competition on Independence Day:

NIEPID MSEC - Primary school staff is also preparing to celebrate Independence Day on August 15 from 11 am to 12:15 pm. They have organized a cultural program that includes singing, dancing, recitation programs which will start off with flag hoisting followed by a chief guest address and then the unified cultural program. Independence Day fancy dress competition: 

Apeejay School Haldia and Bhubaneswar have already organized a virtual inter-school cultural competition called “Jai Hind 2021: Hum Honge Kaamyaab”. The students who participated in the competition were from primary to Class 12 students to celebrate the 75 year of Independence on August 7 and August 9. But the final event will be held on August 15, 2021, on Independence Day. The school has also planned to organize fancy dress and poster-making competitions, according to ABP Education.

Independence Day patriotic song competition: 

An “Online Patriotic Song Singing Competition” by Arya Public School and Bongaigaon Sports Academy is going to organize.  The participant students have been divided into two groups like students of classes 5 to 8 will be under Group A category and Classes 9 to 12 students under Group B. All the participants have to submit videos through WhatsApp between August 5 and 12.
