IPL 2020: After Scoring Half A Century Hardik Pandya Takes A Knee And Says Black Lives Matter; Netizens Asks 'What About Dalit Lives?'
Other than Coronavirus pandemic, the other thing that took over the world by storm was Black Lives Matter. American citizens and celebs flocked the streets in hundreds and thousands, to stand against racial discrimination. Well, on the same, Mumbai Indians' player Hardik Pandya took a knee to show support to the Black Lives Matter movement in the previous match of Indian Premier League 2020. Pandya took a knee and raised his right hand into a fist, showing solidarity to the movement. Pandya made the gesture during Mumbai Indians’ IPL match against Rajasthan Royals in Abu Dhabi on Sunday after scoring a half-century in the match. Even West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard responded by raising his right fist.

While many applauded the cricketer for standing in solidarity for Black lives and standing against racial discrimination, there was a certain section of people who did not favour him and called him out for not supporting the caste atrocities, discrimination against minorities and violence against women and asked him what about the Dalit lives? Among many, a user wrote, "An upper-caste Indian cricketer took a knee in support of Black Lives Matter.  Dear Hardik Pandya, have you said anything about how there are ZERO Dalits & Adivasi cricketers in India? Have you said anything about the caste atrocities committed against us? Change begins at home." While another one, "What if whites say "Dalit lives matter" and never utter a word on "Black lives matter"?  Hope you got the point."

There was another one who said, "To @hardikpandya7, you took a knee in support of #blacklivesmatter, a movement against structural oppression. but do you have the guts to recognise caste oppression in India? did you speak up about Hathras? will u stand up to your own teammates who display caste supremacy?"

Meanwhile, in the previous match of IPL 2020, Mumbai Indians battled it with Rajasthan Royals where RR won the match by 8 wickets.
