Jibraan Khan’s Café Manager Arrested By Bandra Police For Allegedly Embezzling ₹34.99 Lakh from Grounded Café

On Saturday, Bandra police arrested Ajaysingh Rawat, 31, the manager of Grounded Café, on charges of embezzling ₹34.99 lakh from actor Jibraan Khan. Rawat, who had managed the café since 2022, is accused of depositing only ₹79.67 lakh out of the total ₹1.14 crore in earnings.

Jibraan, owner of the café located on BJ Road near Mount Mary in Bandra West, lodged a complaint alleging that Rawat repeatedly diverted funds. The court has remanded Rawat to police custody through September 30. As café manager, Rawat was entrusted with the responsibility of depositing daily cash and online receipts into the bank by the following day. Despite sources of income through both cash and digital transactions, he allegedly siphoned off nearly ₹35 lakh.

The irregularities first came to light after several vendors began to complain about unpaid bills. While Rawat was on leave, the store manager, Pramod, alerted Jibraan on September 19 that suppliers were raising concerns. When Rawat resumed duty on September 22, his evasive replies to Jibraan’s questions heightened suspicions. In response, Jibraan instructed his chartered accountant to audit the accounts for the financial year April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025. The audit confirmed that while the café had generated ₹1.14 crore, only ₹79.67 lakh was deposited, revealing a discrepancy of ₹34.99 lakh.

Investigators allege that Rawat misappropriated that sum over the period from April through September. Jibraan Khan, son of actor Arjun Feroz Khan, began his acting career as a child artist, playing Krish in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
