Several Bollywood celebrities took cognizance of the brutal attack on students in JNU, and B-Town celebs Dia Mirza, Taapsee Pannu, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Vishal Bharadwaj, Richa Chadha, Anubhav Sinha, Gauahar Khan and others joined the peaceful protest at Carter Road, Mumbai

It was a violent Sunday in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi, as a group of masked men and women, armed with sticks, rods and acid, unleashed terror and violence on the campus of the prestigious institute. The brutal attack on students sparked outrage and protests across the nation. Several Bollywood celebs such as Swara Bhasker, Riteish Deshmukh, Anil Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and others expressed their outrage and condemned the violence. Now, many B-Town celebs also took cognizance of the brutal attack and Dia Mirza, Taapsee Pannu, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Vishal Bharadwaj, Swanand Kirkire, Richa Chadha, Anubhav Sinha, Gauahar Khan, and others joined the peaceful protest at Carter Road, Mumbai.

Anurag Kashyap was seen holding a placard that read, “Enough.” Later in the evening, he was joined by Dia Mirza, Zoya Akhtar, Richa Chadha and others. Dia Mirza shared a live story on her Instagram of the peaceful protest that was alive with soul-stirring songs and slogans.  Swanand Kirkire sang for peace during the peaceful protest, while Vishal Bhardwaj and his wife, singer Rekha Bhardwaj, performed Aao Na from the film Haider.  Pictures from the protest, where commoners and celebrities alike gathered and chanted slogans, are all over the Internet. Taapsee Pannu had earlier tweeted that she would show up at the protest in Carter Road, Bandra. She tweeted, “Today at 8pm Carter Road, Bandra. Coz with great power comes greater responsibility and I don’t want to shy away from it. #JNU you have our love and support.”
