Kerala Floods: Allu Arjun Extends Support With Donation Of Rs 25 Lakh To CM Relief Fund Amid Wayanad Landslide
Telugu superstar Allu Arjun has joined the list of film personalities contributing to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) to aid the rehabilitation efforts in the landslide-affected Wayanad district in Kerala. The catastrophic landslide that struck on July 30 has claimed 219 lives, as reported by the state government. Allu Arjun expressed his sorrow and solidarity with the people of Kerala in a heartfelt message on X. He shared that Kerala has always shown him immense love, and this donation was his way of giving back. "I am deeply saddened by the recent landslide in Wayanad. Kerala has always given me so much love, and I want to do my bit by donating ₹25 lakh to the Kerala CM Relief Fund to support the rehabilitation work. On Saturday, veteran Malayalam cinema actor Mohanlal, who also holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army, arrived in Wayanad in his Army uniform. He pledged Rs 3 crore for the rehabilitation efforts in the disaster-stricken region. "The devastation in Wayanad is a deep wound that will take time to heal. Every home lost and life disrupted is a personal tragedy," Mohanlal posted alongside a series of pictures from the ground. He visited the Army camp at Meppadi, held discussions with officers, and then proceeded to the landslide-affected areas.




Several other prominent figures in the South Indian film industry have also stepped forward with significant contributions. Tamil actors Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Jyotika, Karthi, Vikram, Nayanthara, and Vignesh Sivan, along with Malayalam stars Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya, and Tovino Thomas, have donated generously to the CMDRF. Kamal Haasan donated Rs 25 lakh, while Jyotika, Suriya, and Karthi collectively contributed Rs 50 lakh. Mammootty gave Rs 20 lakh, Dulquer Rs 15 lakh, and Tovino Rs 25 lakh. Fahadh Faasil and Nazriya also contributed Rs 25 lakh.

Noted filmmaker Anand Patwardhan donated Rs 2.2 lakh, the prize money he received at the 16th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK). The collective efforts of these film personalities highlight a strong sense of community and solidarity in the face of the devastating natural disaster.
