Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder Case: Shoojit Sircar To Tota Roy Chowdhury; Prominent Celebs Of West Bengal Want Justice For Tilottama
Shoojit  Sircar:  “It’s shameful and disgusting. As a society I think we filmmaker need to be more responsible.Rape is rampant and we should be extremely worried about our wives, sisters and daughters.I tried to interrogate and raise questions  on  the predatory   attitude in PINK. It  won’t be easy to rectify  how society will address this predatory outlook towards women.Entire society will have to re-activate its  mindset. A lot of the problem is how we grow up and perceive the female gender. Harsh punishment is one side of the solution. BUT it has to be a deeper cleansing of our minds too. I personally take this responsibility  to change gender dynamics through my films.I am very  particular about how I portray women and men and their equation.”

Gautam  Ghose: “I condemn the heinous crime on the young doctor at RG Kar medical college and hospital. Since the case is sub- judice now my comment is not valid. But a nexus of corruption in these hospitals must be exposed. At the same time stringent measures should be adopted nationwide  against  the torture of women in this patriarchal society.”

Tota Roy Chowdhury: “It's one of the darkest blots on our state in recent times. The gruesome nature of the crime and the subsequent response to it by a section of the administration has so  infuriated the common person that Bengal is witnessing unprecedented protests by apolitical individuals. I sincerely wish and pray that the  perpetrators are caught and are hanged to death.”

Bidita Bag: “If we google, we can see over 31,000 rape cases were reported just in year 2021. So many cases go unreported. It's not about one Nirbhaya or one Tilottama. What I fear the most is...because of political mudslinging, the actual issue should not get lost. We want strict laws against rape, murder and injustice against women. I have faith in the CBI and Indian judiciary system...but this time India , please make proper laws and  fast track courts for women of India highlighting women’s security, combating sexual and gender-based violence, Clear all backlog asap.Tilottama's sacrifice should not go in vain .”
