Not very long ago, a video of popular comedian Kunal Kamra confronting journalist Arnab Goswami amid a flight had emerged online. It saw Kunal asking for certain answers (In Arnab’s own style); however, Arnab paid no heed throughout. As a consequence of his action, the comedian has been temporarily banned from boarding IndiGo and other crucial airlines. This hasn’t gone down well with a lot of people that have been criticising the airlines for such harsh punishment. Now, the IndiGo pilot who flew Kamra that day has come forth and expressed his disappointment over this matter.
In his letter to the IndiGo management, the pilot asked them why he wasn’t consulted before taking such a drastic step of banning Kunal Kamra. He also called Kamra’s behaviour not disruptive. “I was disheartened to learn that my Airline has taken action in this case solely on the basis of Social Media posts, with no consultation whatsoever with the Pilot-in-Command. This is somewhat unprecedented in my nine years of Airline flying," read the letter by the pilot. As for Kunal’s behaviour, he wrote, "Pilots can attest to incidents which were similar and/or worse in nature that were not deemed unruly.” The Captain has also asked for a clarification from the airline by adding, “Am I to understand that the bar for interpretation of a disruptive passenger is lower/different when it comes to high profile cases? As it leaves a lot of room for ambiguity.” As per PTI, Indigo was quoted as saying, “We have received the relevant statements and the internal committee has initiated the investigation regarding this incident."
