The Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing has arrested Madras Cafe actress Leena Maria Paul for allegedly helping her boyfriend Sukesh Chandrasekhar, an accused in 21 cases, in extorting Rs 200 crore from a businessman's wife. Chandrasekhar has been accused of extorting hundreds of crores from many people. He was nabbed after he conned a businessman’s wife by impersonating a government official. Two weeks after Leena Maria was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate, the actress has been arrested by Delhi Police.

Confirming the same, ANI tweeted, “Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police arrested Leena Maria Paul (in black dress), partner of Sukesh Chandrashekhar, in connection with case related to allegedly duping the victim.”

Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police has arrested four more persons in connection with the case related to allegedly duping the victim.



The police have invoked stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOCA) Act against the accused, a senior police officer said, adding that further investigation into the matter is underway. The official also revealed that Leena Maria Paul allegedly helped Chandrasekhar in duping the victim.

An FIR was registered on August 7 after the victim informed police that a man posing as a senior official of the Law Ministry last year had offered to help her secure bail for her husband, who was in jail at that time, in return for money.
