Miss World Manushi Chhillar Continues Her Initiative To Spread Menstrual Health And Hygiene Awareness
Miss World Manushi Chhillar has long championed women’s health through her non-profit initiative, Project Shakti. And furthering this social impact project, Manushi recently visited young girls to raise awareness about menstrual health and hygiene. As a part of her initiative, Manushi visited a Mumbai school to educate young girls on menstruation, distributed sanitary pads, and encouraged open dialogue around the topic. While she has already helmed multiple initiatives, enabling countless women to not only prioritise their menstrual hygiene, but also given them access to free sanitary pads, the Miss World is taking a major step forward by starting the awareness campaign with a young crowd.

Her commitment to menstrual health isn’t new. During the COVID-19 lockdown, she publicly urged state governments to provide free sanitary pads and essentials such as ration, to those affected and impacted due to those stranded and those who were unable to earn a livelihood. Through Project Shakti, she worked across rural and urban areas, helping over 5,000 women across 20 villages, winning the beauty with a purpose award at Miss world for it. Post miss world, she worked across India and Africa to spread menstrual awareness and launched a project which provides low-cost, compostable sanitary pads.

Beyond her menstrual health advocacy, Manushi has expressed broader social commitments. She has also been involved in World AIDS Day activities through Project Shakti, demonstrating her commitment to various health awareness causes. Her work represents a sustained effort to address critical health issues primarily affecting women across India, combining her platform as a beauty queen with meaningful social impact. On the Bollywood front, Manushi has two big-ticket releases this year - Maalik with Rajkummar Rao and Tehran with John Abraham, which will see the beauty queen in two stark opposite roles.
