The day is celebrated, to be grateful to all doctors who saved so many lives. At this time, where the world is battling a medical crisis of COVID-19, it is our doctors who are leading at the forefront.
The dates of this observance vary from nation to nation, depending upon the event it marks on the date. In United States March 30 is celebrated as National Doctors' Day, because it is the day when there was the first use of general anaesthesia in surgery.
History Of The Date
The day marks its very first observance in March 1933 in Georgia. When Eudora Brown Almond, the wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, decided to set aside a day to honour physicians.
Since then, the day honours all efforts and contribution done by doctors to save lives. Doctors profession is probably the one, where they constantly strive to make people feel better, be it via administering medicines or performing complex surgeries. Role of the doctors became even more respected throughout the world, as people are battling with the deadly pandemic of Coronavirus.
