National Technology Day is celebrated on May 11 every year. The day is celebrated to mark India’s tremendous rise in the field of science and technology. The day has its speacial significance due to the Operation Shakti conducted in India in the year 1998, which gave the status of nuclear-powered state. Operation Shakti was led by the APJ Abdul Kalam secretly in Pokhran, away from the watchful eyes of the secret agencies of the world. The day is also significant because it also marks the Hansa-3 flight which flew from Bengluru. It was India’s first indigenously built aircraft, which showcased our engineers who built this personal-2 seater flying plane.
