Ashutosh Gowariker’s period drama Panipat starring Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dut in pivotal roles, has released today. This highly anticipated film depicts the greatest battle of all time- the third battle of Panipat fought in 1761 AD fought between the Maratha Empire and the invading Afghan army. Even before the release of the film, celebs and famous personalities saw the film as a part of a special screening, and were all praises for it. Poonam Dhillon, Anil Kapoor, Siddhant Kapoor were completely captivated and moved by the film. Now, raising our expectations even further, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray has recommended Panipat saying everyone should definitely watch it.
A day before its release, The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackeray shared a note praising the film and highlighting how Marathas fought valiantly in the war to protect their sovereignty. The note read, “The Panipat war is etched in our history as a classic manifestation of how Marathas fought valiantly this war to preserve our sovereignty. They took the flag right up to Attock city (Pakistan) and yet fell short of a victory. To get the perspective behind this defeat, one needs to go into our history of the Panipat War. The film ‘Panipat’ by Shri, Ashutosh Gowariker is a audio-visual documentation of this epic war and everybody should definitely watch it.” The note was shared in both Marathi and English. Apart from Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, and Kriti Sanon, Panipat also stars Mohnish Bahl, Padmini Kolhapure and Zeenat Aman. The film, that released today, saw a box-office clash with Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar’s Pati Patni Aur Woh.
