Amid several protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019, (CAA), a few celebrities such as Farhan Akhtar, Parineeti Chopra, Sidharth Malhotra, Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmann Khurrana, Sushant Singh and a few others took to their social media to raise their voice and express their opinions about the same. A section of Twitterati was miffed with Bollywood celebs for not having spoken up about such an important issue, and criticized Bollywood biggies such as Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and others. Anurag Kashyap has been one of the few celebrities who have been vocal about their opinions on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 CAA and has now claimed that his follower count on Twitter has reduced drastically after criticizing the Act.

The filmmaker posted a screenshot of his current followers which shows to be 76,300 which he claims has drastically from the previous number of followers. A user commented on the post saying that he was following the filmmaker on Twitter but now he has been automatically unfollowed. Journalist Barkha Dutt also commented that her Twitter followers were capped a year ago. She wrote, “Capped mine a year ago.” Soni Razdan shared a screenshot pointing out that while the number of followers now shows 213.8 k, but she also shared that she magically unfollowed him, so she had to follow him again. Anurag Kashyap, who had quit Twitter back in August, made a comeback to the micro-blogging site to break his silence on Jamia Milia protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). He wrote that things have gone too far and he can’t stay silent any longer.
