Rajya Sabha Member And Former Leader Of Samajwadi Party Amar Singh Passes Away At The Age Of 64
Rajya Sabha member and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh passed away at the age of 64. According to the recent reports in Hindustan Times, he was not keeping well for a very long time and was undergoing treatment in Singapore for the last seven months. Earlier, there was a report in Mumbai Mirror that claimed Amar Singh was in the ICU and he was in critical condition. It also mentioned that his family including his twin daughters were by his side. Singh reportedly suffered a kidney failure in 2013. Amar Singh was a very good friends to Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan who is currently in the hospital for his Coronavirus treatment along with his son Abhishek Bachchan.
 
Amar Singh was one of the well-known leaders of Samajwadi Party. He was the general secretary of the Samajwadi Party and was a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian parliament. Just sometime back, BJP MP Subramanian Swamy took to his Twitter handle to confirm the news of the demise of the leader and wrotr, "Amar Singh MP and a person I have known for long, died today. Although he was mostly with SP, but he made friends across the spectrum of political parties. My condolences to his family." Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and lyricist Manoj Muntashir have also sent their condolences. Manoj wrote, “May you rest in peace #AmarSingh ji. I still remember our chance meeting when coincidently we got adjoining seats in the craft, while flying to Bangkok for IIFA-2018. We talked a lot about cinema, poetry but nothing political. You will be missed.”
 
We went through Amar Singh’s Twitter handle, two posts were made 3 hours ago where he wished Eid Mubarak to all his followers saying, “Wishing a very joyous Eid Al Adha. Let's celebrate this day by spreading love and happiness. #EidMubarak #EidAladha2020.” He paid a tribute to Bal Gangadhar Tilak which read, “Tribute to the great revolutionary freedom fighter Lokmanya #BalGangadharTilak ji on his death anniversary. His contribution will be remembered forever.” May his soul rest in peace.
