Rakul Preet Singh Reveals She Only Wanted To Do Hindi Films Initially: “As A North Indian, I Did Not Know How Big The South Industry Was”
Rakul Preet Singh has been a prominent name in the South Indian film industry with standout performances in films like 'Sarrainodu' and 'Spyder’. She later made a significant impact in Hindi cinema with films like ‘De De Pyaar De’ and ‘Runway 34’, showcasing her versatile talent across various genres. However, in a recent conversation at a popular OTT fest, Rakul revealed that she didn't always think she would be doing South Indian films and wanted to exclusively focus on Hindi films. Speaking candidly, she shared her initial mindset and early experiences in the film world, recounting how she initially turned down an opportunity in a Kannada film.
Reflecting on her mindset as a young aspiring actress, she stated, “At first, I had rejected the movie... I was a Delhi girl, 18 years old, and I thought I would work in films, but I wanted to do Hindi films only.” This aspiration was driven by her goal to work with renowned production houses like Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films. “And I just want to do Dharma and Yash Raj Films kind of films. I was operating on that level. I was just out of school. That time as a North Indian, I did not know how big the South industry was,” she concluded.
For her fans, Rakul has graced both the South Indian and Hindi film industries with her talent, allowing audiences to experience the best of both worlds. Currently, she is filming ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ alongside Ajay Devgn. With her engaging screen presence and diverse talent, the sequel is highly anticipated and is set to release in summer 2025. Rakul's ability to seamlessly transition between different film industries and genres has solidified her place as a beloved and versatile actress, much to the delight of her fans.
