Actor turned politician Ravi Kishan in a recent interview opened up about his three-decade-long career in the film industry and made some shocking revelations. The Bhojpuri superstar revealed that for 15 years, he worked for free in the industry as people used him a lot. Ravi also mentioned that things have now changed with a tenfold hike in his fees. He went on to brand himself as an 'expensive actor' now.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, the 52-year-old actor stated that things changed for him after the release of his movies Tere Naam' and 'Luck.' Filmmakers and producers started understanding his craft. Both the films also earned him a loyal fan base. "I have a big family to take care of. I am an expensive actor now. There’s been a tenfold hike in my fee, as I have been spending from my pocket to take care of my people and social work. The makers are happily paying, as they want my dates. Maine lagbhag 15 saal free mein kaam kiya hai. Koi paise deta nahin tha aur main maang nahin paata tha. People used me a lot. But things changed after Tere Naam (2003) and Luck (2009), as people understood my craft and the loyal fan base I have,” Ravi Kishan was quoted saying. The actor further revealed that he has been getting a lot of good offers from across different industries and mediums like web series, Bhojpuri, and South films. But, he admits he is selective about what he takes up. For the coming years, Ravi has his hands full with many exciting projects. He has Tinu Suresh Desai’s Capsule Gill, Matsya Kaand 2, Surya with Sunny Deol, and an upcoming film AK47 in the lineup.
The actor also has two Telugu films in his kitty. Not just this, Kishan will also be donning a director’s hat for two Bhojpuri films and a short film on UP Police.
