A 37-year-old actress has filed at the Versova police station after her fake nude photos were sent to her family through social media
A 37-year-old actress in Mumbai filed a case at the Versova police station after morphed nude photos of her were circulated amongst her family and friends through various social media platforms. She has reportedly informed the police officials that she suspects a male friend, residing in Pune, has sent the photos to the people she knows. As per a report by the Free Press Journal, she filed the First Information Report (FIR) at the Versova police station, Andheri West as she resides there.
She decided to take the legal route after a male friend had contacted her on December 27 at 5:30 pm, while she was in a cafe in Oshiwara. The friend informed her that he had received her manipulated nude shots and messages through a Facebook account linked to Kuldeep Dwivedi. He also provided her with screenshots of the messages. However, due to her prior work commitments, she didn’t immediately file a case.
As per the report by the FPJ, the actress filed an online complaint on January 7. She had received a call from her mother the next day, who resides in Punjab, and informed her that she and her father had also received the nude photos from two different mobile numbers. Subsequently, a female friend also informed her that she and their two common friends had received her morphed photos in their Instagram accounts through an ID named ‘kgxjcdjvfdg’. It was in September 2023, that she received death threats on her friends Instagram account through an ID named ‘ydryhdtj’.
The report further states that another friend of the actress received her manipulated nude photos on Instagram, on December 31. The photos were accompanied by a threat to rape her one day. The 37-year-old claimed that she suspects her male friend living in Piranhut, Pune. She has provided the officials with his mobile number for further investigation.
A case has been filed against an individual under section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with sections 67 (transmitted in the electronic form any material which contains sexually explicit) and, 67 (a) (transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act) of the Information Technology Act (IT Act), at the Versova Police Station on Wednesday.
