Luana Andrade’s surgery was stopped as she faced respiratory issues and cardiac arrest; however, she was later diagnosed with massive thrombosis
Luana Andrade, a Brazilian influencer and reality TV star, passed away at merely 29 after a liposuction surgery went wrong. She was reportedly undergoing the surgery at São Luiz Hospital in São Paulo on Monday, and her family also accompanied her, reported Globo 1.
However, the surgery took a wrong turn and she suddenly had a respiratory issue followed by a cardiac arrest. Nevertheless, the reality TV star was immediately revived by the medical team.
The hospital, in its statement issued on the unprecedented event during the surgery, maintained that the operation was stopped and Andrade was tested and found to have a massive thrombosis, a condition wherein blood clots form in the veins. Later, she was moved to the ICU and given medication and hemodynamic treatment.
Moreover, despite the extensive efforts of the hospital staff, Andrade wasn’t able to survive and she ended up losing her breath on Tuesday morning around 05:30 am. The cause of death was a massive pulmonary embolism, a complication of thrombosis where a blood clot blocks an artery in the lung, as explained by the Mayo Clinic.
As per the reports, Luana Andrade was a popular social media personality with 558,000 followers on Instagram. She also appeared on the sixth season of the Brazilian reality show Power Couple with her boyfriend João Hadad, as reported by Globo 1.
João Hadad, who was dating Luana Andrade for nearly two years, shared a heartbreaking tribute to his late girlfriend on Instagram. He posted a monochrome photo of them holding hands in Paris and wrote, "I’m torn and living my worst nightmare. A piece of me is gone.”
As per the latest reports, Andrade’s funeral was held at the Valle dos Reis Cemetery in São Paulo on Wednesday.
