Solar Eclipse 2020: Myths, Facts, Dos And Don'ts - All You Need To Know About Surya Grahan
On June 21, 2020 - Sun, Moon and Earth will be in the same line, that is, we all will witness Solar Eclipse. As it is an annular solar eclipse, we shall all witness a 'Ring Of Fire' around the moon. It's because the moon will come in the middle of the sun and the earth, blocking the core of the sun, forming a ring like a picture around the moon. It is considered to be one of the most important phenomenons in astronomy and there are many notions over how one must behave during solar eclipse. We shed some light on it here.

All of us might have come across statements like one should not eat during solar eclipse, or not step out of their homes as it may lead to a bad impact on you. However, some of these notions are not true. As per Art Of Living, it is advisable to not eat during the solar eclipse period and there is a scientific reason behind it. It is said that there is an uncontrolled growth of microorganisms in food products during the eclipse as sun's UV protection is missing. So it is advisable that we eat at least two hours before or after the eclipse. One must consume freshly cooked food post eclipse, says the report. However, there is no scientific reason backing the myth saying that one must not step out during the eclipse.

Art Of Living also suggests that one should meditate during a solar eclipse as the mind is connected to the moon and the body is connected to earth. Three celestial bodies are aligned during Solar Eclipse and it makes it a perfect time for mind and body to get in-sync.

Another notion that is commonly heard during Solar Eclipse is that one must take bath after and before the phenomenon. Art of Living advises that pregnant women should follow this and take baths with cold water as it helps relax mind and body.

Last, one should not look at the sun directly during a solar eclipse as it may affect your eyes tremendously. This is laid out as a FACT. It can cause retina burns and one must use eclipse-certified glasses to witness Solar Eclipse.  (Also Read: Himachal Pradesh To Arrange The Solar Eclipse Viewing In The State Capital; Aims To End Misconceptions And Superstitions)
