Indian weddings are quite the popular type around the world and owing to their grand affair, many end up spending billions to make it look grand. As if the world wasn’t too impressed with the Ambanis and their wedding ceremonies, Indian billionaire businessman, B. Ravi Pillai hosted a magnificent wedding for his daughter, Aarthi Pillai in 2015. The wedding was a big hit and people still talk about it even after eight years. 

Like every father, Ravi wanted the best for his daughter and behind every extravagant wedding is a charming father who wants the best of everything for his daughter's big day.

Ravi Pillai's daughter, Aarthy Pillai married Aditya Vishu, who is a doctor by profession, on November 26, 2015, in Kollam, Kerala. The wedding showcased Ravi Pillai’s wealth as he splurged Rs. 55 crores on his daughter’s celebrations. The wedding had over 30,000 guests from 42 countries attended the wedding festivities. It also included the royal families of Qatar.

The big fat wedding saw the presence of several renowned film stars including Mohanlal and Mammootty graced the event and added more charm to it. Famous CEOs of Samsung and the Japan Gas Corporation also marked their presence.

Another highlight of the grand wedding was the unique lotus-themed mandap. Interestingly, the wedding pandal was planned by the production designer, Sabu Cyril, who had worked with SS Rajamouli for his film, Magnum Opus.

In a media interaction, Sabu Cyril revealed that the wedding set was larger than the set of the film, Bahubali.

The pandal was created by a team of 200 professionals and had huge floral elephant statues and floral chandeliers. The 350,000 sq ft pandal, spread over 20 acres, with an investment of Rs 20 crore. However, creating the wedding pandal wasn't easy. It took the designer almost 75 days to create the Rajasthani ambience in Kollam. 

The bride, Dr Aarthi Pillai was decked in a gorgeous silk saree designed by ace designer, Manish Malhotra. She radiated the South Indian bridal glow in the red saree, with the traditional drape. To everyone’s surprise, Aarthy ditched the gold jewellery and opted for diamonds for her big day.

She donned a diamond choker neckpiece with a statement layered haar, a kamarbandh, bajubandh, a mathapatti and diamond bangles. She accentuated her look with on-point makeup with well-defied brows and dark red lips.

As of for the entertainment, Mr Pillai organized a stirring Bharatanatyam performance by renowned actresses Manju Warrier and Shobhana, and a musical show conducted by Stephen Devassy. 'Rhythm of the Forest' performance, choreographed by Soorya had 400 dancers on stage. A traditional Kerala sadya was served for the guests in dining halls, which could accommodate 7,000 guests at a time.
