Veteran Punjabi Actress Daljeet Kaur Khangur Passes Away At 69; Was Under A Prolonged Treatment For Mental Illness
Veteran Punjabi actress Daljeet Kaur Khangura passed away on Thursday, November 17, leaving fans heartbroken. She breathed her last at Kasba Sudhaar Bazaar in Ludhiana, Punjab. If reports are to be believed, she was under prolonged treatment for a mental illness. The last rites for the late actress were held yesterday afternoon in Ludhiana. She was only 69.

Having starred in more than 70 Punjabi films and 10 Hindi films, the actress was well loved by the audience for her versatile performances. She had stopped working in the industry after the tragic death of her beloved husband, actor Harminder Singh Deol. He passed away in a road accident.

Industry people and fans expressed their shock and extended their condolences to the family members. Singer Mika Singh wrote, "The beautiful Actress, Legend of Punjab #Daljeetkaur has sadly left us with her beautiful memories. May god bless her soul and she rest in eternal peace."


For the unversed, she graduated from Lady Sri Ram College and studied acting at the prestigious FTII, Pune. After making her debut with Daaj in 1976, she went on to star in movies like Giddha, Putt Jattan De, Roop Shaqinan Da, Ishaq Nimana, Laajo, Batwara, Vairee Jatt, Patola, Kee Banu Duniya Da, Sohni Mahiwal, Jagga Daku and Anakh Jattan Dee. Not only was she one of the most famous actors during the 1970s and 1980s, but she also worked with director Vidhu Vinod Chopra during her time at the FTII. She also played national kabaddi and hockey.
