We Dated For Two Years: Muzammil Ibrahim Opens Up About His Relationship With Deepika Padukone And Their Monsoon Dates In Mumbai
Actor Muzammil Ibrahim recently opened up about his past relationship with Deepika Padukone, revealing that they dated for two years during her early days in Mumbai. In an interview on Siddharth Kannan's podcast, Ibrahim shared that Deepika was the one who proposed to him first. "It was my first actual relationship. Deepika proposed to me first. We broke up because I left her," he stated.
The two met during their modeling careers, having worked together on a Tommy Hilfiger show. Deepika had noticed Ibrahim through his appearances in Gladrags and the music video "Pardesiya." Reflecting on their time together, Ibrahim mentioned, "We were very good friends, and we still are. She is a very nice girl."
Ibrahim fondly recalled their monsoon dates in Mumbai, where they would ride auto-rickshaws together. He recounted a particular memory: "We both were very young at that time, and it used to feel extremely sweet how we would roam around in auto rickshaws while it rained in the city. I remember, this once, I had asked the driver to play her favourite song, and for 1.5 hours, he only played that song. She was so happy."
Despite their breakup, Ibrahim emphasized that there was no animosity between them. He expressed admiration for Deepika's success, saying, "She is a superstar now. Everyone knows her, nobody knows me. I am a big fan. I love her work, and I feel really happy when I see her doing good in life."
The two remained in touch until Deepika's marriage to Ranveer Singh in 2018. Ibrahim noted that they would occasionally congratulate each other on their achievements and support one another. Deepika and Ranveer welcomed their first child, a daughter named Dua, in September 2024.
