WHAT?! Kapil Dev Wasn't Invited For India VS Australia ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023? Here's What He Said-DETAILS BELOW
Kapil Dev, India's World Cup-winning captain, has sparked a debate after the cricketer claimed that he was not invited to watch the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on November 19, 2023.

“I wasn’t invited. They didn’t call me so I did not go. As simple as that.I wanted the whole team to be there with me but I guess due to the fact that it’s such a big event and people are so busy handling responsibilities, sometimes they forget,” the 1983 World Cup-winning captain told ABP News.

For the unversed, India won the men’s Cricket World Cup for the first time under Kapil Dev when his team defeated the West Indies in the iconic Lord’s Stadium in the UK.

The India vs Australia ICC World Cup 2023 finale ended with Pat Cummins winning the toss and electing to bowl first in Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. India had set a target of 241 for Australians.

Following Dev’s claims, the internet has been flooded with reactions from across the globe. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said on Monday that cricket icon Kapil Dev, “who was not invited for the World Cup final match” between India and Australia, has been insulted by the BJP, BCCI, and ICC.

The party spokesperson said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the International Cricket Council “have a lot of explaining to do”.

While speaking to The Indian Express, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP and party spokesperson Raut said, “What is happening in this country? Our cricket icon who brought us the biggest glory and because of his aggressive captainship India won the World Cup in 1983 has been insulted. The BCCI and ICC should explain why he was not invited. Did the BCCI and ICC act under the BJP’s pressure and choose to insult India’s legendary cricketer?”

He further said, “I have seen Kapil’s reaction that he was not invited because of their busy schedule. This is just not done. Of all the people, the BJP chose to insult Kapil Dev. They invited politicians of all hues and actors who are close to the party. But they did not bother to extend the same courtesy to the giant of Indian cricket”.
