Rapper-actor Snoop Dogg has left the internet shocked as he sent out a cryptic announcement via his official social media handle saying that he is “giving up smoke.” However, the netizens do not seem to be convinced by his commitment. While many think this is a joke, some are left wondering if it is merely a temporary promise. Nevertheless, Snoop actually quitting his infamous weed habit, or if he’s alluding to something else, still remains unclear.
“After much consideration and conversation with my family,” Snoop begins his short statement, “I’ve decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time,” his post on Instagram read. The message was conveyed on top of Snoop’s picture where he can be seen folding his hands.
Snoop’s fans and followers struggled to believe him and the post’s comments section was filled with humour. One fan wrote, “Bro announced it like someone died and even signed it.” Another commented, “I can't get over the fact that homie dropped this statement like he lost a loved one.”
Some also joked that Snoop was actually trying to promote his own line of edible cannabis. “Snoop be like ‘I stopped smoking, now I’m taking these all new Snoop Shrooms’,” read a comment.
A person in doubt asked him to “Define…smoke”. Another said, “Why he had to announce this like he giving up the crack pipe?” as if he was giving up only a normal cigarette.
On the contrary, many took him seriously and showed all of their support in the comments section. “I give this 3 hours,” wrote one of his followers. Another said, “He staying sober till thanksgiving.” One of the comments from those who smoke read: “Well let me have whatever you got left”.

A fan finally decided to disseminate Snoop Dogg’s post and explained, “There may be several reasons for this: 1.- it can be a very good joke. 2.- It could be that he has really decided to quit because he doesn't get as high as before. 3.- Or (let's hope this is not the case) he may decide to quit because of health problems, I mean... come on... Snoop Dogg is possibly one of the people who has smoked the most weed in a long course of years, or at this point his system is already used to it or he is really starting to have health problems and that's why he should stop. Previously, Snoop had opened up about smoking 81 blunts each day and he revealed to Jimmy Kimmel in January that he tried to quit weed 20 years ago, but it did not take. In March, he claimed that he would cut down on his THC intake.
