Yo Yo Honey Singh Apologizes for ‘Gaadi Mein S*x Karo’ Remark at Delhi Concert, Says, “I Thought of Addressing Gen Z in Their Language”

Rapper and singer Yo Yo Honey Singh publicly apologised after facing strong criticism for an on-stage comment he made at a recent concert in Delhi that went viral online. During his appearance at the Nanku-Karun concert, Honey Singh made a remark about the cold weather in Delhi and suggested to the audience, “Gaadi mein sex karo, Dilli ki thand mein,” a line that many found inappropriate and vulgar. The clip quickly circulated on social media and triggered widespread backlash from users who felt the language was offensive and irresponsible.

On Thursday, January 15, Singh took to his Instagram account to share a video in which he addressed the controversy and apologised for his words. He explained that he had recently met with gynaecologists and sexologists who had spoken to him about the rise in sexually transmitted diseases among young people due to unsafe sexual practices. Singh said that when he saw a predominantly Gen Z audience at the show, he wanted to use language that he believed would resonate with younger fans and convey a message about safe sex and the importance of using condoms.

However, he acknowledged that this attempt “backfired,” and many found the phrasing objectionable. “I apologise to all of you who found my language bad. I had no intention of insulting anyone,” Singh said in his video message. He added that he would be more careful in future about his choice of words, how he delivers them, and the context in which they might be shared or edited online.

Singh reiterated that his intention was never to hurt or offend anyone and promised to be more mindful and responsible moving forward.
