Yuvraj Singh has issued his apologies to Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal for allegedly making a ‘casteist’ remark on Yuzi. During his IG live session with batsman Rohit Sharma, Yuvi had joked about Chahal’s TikTok videos. Soon after the clip of Yuvi calling him ‘Bhangi’ went viral netizens were enraged and were trolling Yuvi asking him to apologise to India leg spinner Yuzvendra. Now this afternoon, taking it to his Twitter, Singh has issued an apology for hurting sentiments.
In the sorry note, he wrote, “This is to clarify that I have never believed in any kind of disparity, be it on the basis of caste, colour, creed or gender. I have given and continue to spend my life for the welfare of people. I believe in the dignity of life and respect each individual without exception. I understand that while I was having a conversation with my friends, I was misunderstood, which was unwarranted.”
He ended his note saying, “However, as a responsible Indian I want to say that if I have unintentionally hurt anybody’s sentiments or feelings, I would like to express regret for the same. My love for India and all its people is eternal.” Soon after he issued his apology, Thappad director Anubhav Sinha wrote, “आजकल युवराज सिंह को अपना देशप्रेम सिद्ध करना पड़ता है। (Nowadays, Yuvraj Singh has to prove his patriotism.)”
During his chat with Rohit Sharma, Yuvi was seen calling Yuzi Bhangi and Sharma pulled his leg for making his father dance on those TikTok videos. In the video, he was seen saying, “ Yeh bhangi log ko kaam nahi hai yeh Yuzi aur isko (Kuldeep).” To which, Rohit added, "Yuzi ko dekha kya video daala hai apni family ke saath. Maine usko wahi bola ki apne baap ko nacha raha hai, pagal toh nahi hai tu."
