Ittefaq Box-Office Collection, Day 1: SLOW Start For The Thriller Remake, Collects ONLY Rs 4.05 Crore

Ittefaq starring Sidharth Malhotra, Akshaye Khanna and Sonakshi Sinha had a lukewarm start at the ticket windows. It made only Rs 4.05 crore on the first day of its release. However, the business started picking up towards the evening.

Popular trade analyst, Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the box-office figures. He wrote, “#Ittefaq started slow, but picked up towards evening... Sat + Sun biz growth crucial... Fri ₹ 4.05 cr. India biz.”

The film might have registered a low collection on day 1, but the reviews of the film are positive- critics and public alike.  SpotboyE.com’s Editor Vickey Lalwani rated the film with 3 stars and wrote that the plot keeps you at the edge of the seat throughout. Praising the star cast he said that Akshaye Khanna, Sidharth Malhotra, and Sonakshi Sinha pull off their respective roles rather well.

However, according to him, the plot could have been more racy and pacy, “The film could have been better and there is room for improvisation. But I'll go with THREE- one for decent performances by Sonakshi and Sidharth, one for B Rji's 'upcoming' grandson, and one for Akshaye who if you haven't gauged by now, is a scene-stealer.”

Ittefaq Received A Lukewarm Response On Day 1

Directed by Abhay Chopra and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Dharma Productions, the film is inspired from the 1969 film by the same name, directed by Yash Chopra, which starred Rajesh Khanna, Nanda and Iftekhar. The makers of the film had decided to not promote the film anywhere. But before the release they promoted it on digital media by starting a campaign against spoilers. Many Bollywood actors got together to request the public to not disclose the secret after watching movie and not encourage spoilers.

Coming back to the box-office figures, let’s see if the word-of-mouth publicity will help in increasing the business of the film through the weekend?
