Anurag Kashyap: India has become North Korea
The filmmaker has asked Congress and AAP to stay away from his fight against the Government over Udta Punjab
Anurag Kashyap is breathing fire at the Censor Board again.
Kashyap’s production Udta Punjab, which deals with the drug menace in Punjab, faced the wrath of the Censor Board yesterday. From asking the makers to drop the word ‘Punjab’ in the movie’s title to removing all references to the state, the Board suggested as many as 89 cuts in the Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh starrer.
And Kashyap, who has a history of rubbing the Board the wrong way, is not taking this lying down. In a series of tweets since late morning, the filmmaker has attacked the Censor Board – he has even gone to the extent of saying that India has become as dictatorial as North Korea.
The filmmaker also made it clear that he didn’t need any political parties’ support in his fight against the Censors.
Yesterday, Kashyap even took the matter up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. When the PM tweeted about the Emir of Qatar, Kashyap drew his attention to ‘Udta Punjab’.
Karan Johar, Hansal Mehta, Shirish Kunder and even Harbhajan Singh lent their support to Kashyap.
