Bhansali keen on Bhumi Pednekar for Gustakhiyan?

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s search for an actress to play Amrita Pritam in Gustakhiyan is turning out to be a long one.
Earlier, there was buzz about the filmmaker approaching the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor Khan (Bhansali knocks on Kareena’s door for Gustakhiyaan, April 2).

However, on not getting an affirmative response from any of them, SLB, we hear, is now considering Bhumi Pednekar, who won accolades for her confident debut in Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015).

Says a source, “Bhumi is new, talented and not over-exposed. She's busy with Manmarziyan as of now, but she has met officials from Bhansali's team. Let's hope for the best.”
Bhansali took over Gustakhiyan a year-and-a-half ago from producer Ashi Dua, who had been struggling to cast the primary characters: Poet-lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi , writer Amrita Pritam and artist-poet Imroz.
When contacted, a member of the National Award-winning director's team said, “Isn't it better to wait for official announcements?”
