Director of Ayushmann-Bhumi Pednekar’s Manmarziyan shown the door, mid-shoot
Filmmaker Sameer Sharma, who has previously directed Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khuranna, has been asked to leave his current directorial project, the Ayushmann Khuranna and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer Manmarziyan.

SpotboyE has exclusively learnt that owing to several creative differences, producer Aanand L Rai (director Raanjhana, Tanu Weds Manu) has told Sameer that he doesn’t want him to direct the film anymore. In the past, Sameer’s Jugalbandi, a film starring Saif Ali Khan which Salman Khan was to produce, hit a roadblock.

A source close to the unit of Manmarziyan told us that the makers shot for over 2 weeks and when Rai saw the rushes, he was massively underwhelmed. He didn’t think that the film was heading in the direction he had envisaged.

Said the source, “Rai saw a lot of potential in Manmarziyan but Sameer was not the right man for the job. There were a lot of issues as the unit wasn’t getting along together. The film became a clash of two visions.”

As things stand now, a call on who replaces Sameer is yet to be taken. When we reached out to Aanand, he declined to comment saying he will talk only “12 hours later” but assured that the film will not stop even if it meant a change in the director. On the other hand, Sameer maintained a “No Comments” stance on the controversy.
