Veteran Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has initiated legal proceedings against his longtime co-star Paresh Rawal, demanding ₹25 crore in damages. The legal notice, issued through Akshay's production company, Cape of Good Films, accuses Rawal of breaching a contractual agreement by abruptly exiting the production of 'Hera Pheri 3' after having officially signed on and commenced filming.
The notice alleges that Rawal's sudden departure constitutes "grossly unprofessional conduct," highlighting that he accepted the signing amount and allowed the production to incur significant expenses before withdrawing from the project. A source close to the production remarked, "If he wanted to not do the film, he should have said so before signing the legal contract, accepting the signing amount, and making the producer spend so much money on the shoot."
This legal action marks the first instance of Akshay Kumar suing a co-actor, underscoring the seriousness of the situation. The 'Hera Pheri' franchise, known for its iconic comedic trio, has faced multiple setbacks over the years, including casting changes and production delays. Initially, Akshay Kumar had stepped away from the project due to dissatisfaction with the script, stating, "I have to do what people want to see. So I backed out." However, he later rejoined the cast after resolving differences with the producer.
