It seems like Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh will be busy for the next 2-3 years as both these actors are signing films with each passing month. As per reports in Bollywoodhungama.com Akshay and Rakul have been roped in to star in a film backed by Jackky Bhagnani through their home production. The source of the said publication informs Jackky has approached Akki with three scripts out of which Akki was impressed with two. While one film is Mudassar Aziz’s project that will likely star Rajkummar, another film has Ranjit Tiwari on board.
Akki and Ranjit Tiwari have worked together for Bell Bottom; the Khiladi Kumar has liked the script to be helmed by Ranjit and has given a nod to him. The movie is set to go on floors this year itself and will be completed in 35-40 days. The source shared, “Jackky had taken three scripts to Akshay and he liked two of them. One was a Mudassar Aziz film which Rajkummar Rao might do now. The other was a film that Bell Bottom director Ranjit Tiwari is putting together.”
The source further adds, “Akshay and Ranjit have worked together on Bell Bottom and when he heard the script, he loved it and immediately decided to do it. It's another inspiring tale and is expected to kickstart sometime this year. The film will have a short schedule and will be wrapped in around 35-40 days.”
Before the makers zeroed down on Rakul Preet Singh, they had also considered Shraddha Kapoor and Kiara Advani. The makers liked her chemistry with Ajay Devgn and also their onscreen pairing did not look awkward, hence, makers felt she fits the bill. The source adds, "Although Shraddha Kapoor and Kiara Advani were also in talks, Rakul bagged the part. They feel the chemistry she has with Ajay Devgn doesn't look awkward on screen despite the age difference and she would be a complete fit for this role as well.
