Bhumi Pednekar doesn’t have time to rest after wrapping up Akshay Kumar-starrer Raksha Bandhan, Mr Lele with Vicky Kaushal and Rajkummar Rao’s Badhaai Do. As per a report in ETimes, the actress is being considered for Ali Abbas Zafar’s next. The actress may be finalised to star opposite Shahid Kapoor, who has already been roped in as the male lead. The reason behind the makers planning to zero down on the actress is they wanted a fresh pair, and Bhumi and Shahid have so far not shared screen space.
The report adds the speculations began after the actress was spotted at Zafar's office a few days ago. The report states, “Bhumi could be finalised soon. The makers are keen on casting her because she hasn’t worked with Shahid before, so their pairing will definitely be a fresh casting coup.” This Ali Abbas Zafar’s directorial venture is a remake of a foreign thriller. It will be shot in Abu Dhabi later in 2021. Also with Bhumi wrapping her projects and Shahid having packed up Jersey and his OTT venture Operation Cactus, chances of the two pairing up are quite high.
Talking of Zafar, he recently donned a producer’s hat with Ananya Pandya and Ishaan Khatter’s Khaali Peeli. The movie premiered on the OTT platform due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The filmmaker is also said to be working on Mr India’s trilogy to be backed by Zee.
Ali Abbas Zafar recently had to face backlash for his OTT series Tandav, starring Saif Ali Khan in a pivotal role. There were claims of his project hurting religious sentiments of a certain community.
