The COVID-19 pandemic has left the world and its people in distress. With the virus spreading rapidly all over, which no sign of hope of the people testing positive slowing down, the circulation of fake news across social media platforms have just been increasing day by day. As lots of fake news spiralling on social media talks about the virus spreading through animals, John Abraham took to his social media to urge fans to not be misinformed and leave animals homeless on the streets.
On Twitter, John Abraham shared a picture of the front page from a popular newspaper. Sharing the picture, the actor tweeted, “Animals do not get or transmit COVID 19... Please don’t be misinformed.” In the tweet, John Abraham asks all his fans to not be misinformed by fake news circulating on the internet. The actor mentioned that Animals do not get affected by COVID-19 or transmit the deadly virus to anyone else.
While John Abraham shared the informative message on his Twitter handle, the picture the actor shared features the front page of the tabloid Mumbai Mirror with the headline reading, “Civic Bodies’ misleading posters lead owners to abandon pets.” The report in the tabloid spoke about how the BMC has put up misleading hoarding and circulated pamphlets in the city stating that the virus spreads through wild animals, leaving the owners of pets abandoning them.
