Entire India, on September 2, marked the beginning of the very auspicious Ganesh Chaturthi 2019, a festival that is celebrated with much devotion and enthusiasm. And after all the awareness in regards to the environment and its safety, a lot of people have switched to eco-friendly Ganesha idols, made of clay and are easily submerged and dissolved into the water. However, a large population remains wary of the environmental harms they cause. As a consequence of which, there has been severe damage of the ecological balance of the city’s coastline, as a lot of beaches are left with massive Ganesha deities and pictures of the same are surfacing online, leaving the citizens in concern.
One such case is that of Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre, who took notice of one such disturbing image and was quick to react on the same. Taking to her Twitter account, Sonali shared an alarming picture from Juhu Beach. It sees several huge Ganpati idols, along with other puja pieces of equipment, lying abandoned on the beach post-Ganpati Visarjan. “After yesterday’s visarjan... If these are not signs of damage we are causing then I don’t know what are! This cannot happen we need to do better!,” wrote Sonali Bendre, expressing her disappointment. Check out her tweet below:

Well, this has been a normal case in Mumbai since every year, we see people immersing chemical-made idols into the sea, hence causing a lot of danger to the environment. It takes a long time for these idols to get completely dissolved in the water and, in the meanwhile, their harmful chemicals end up harming all the water bodies.
